Glossary of Terms Roof Pitch - The roof pitch is designated by two numbers such as 5 on 12. It is simply identifying the slope of the roof. A 5 on 12 means that for every foot that the roof comes out (12) it drops 5". The lower the first number, the flatter the roof is. A 12 on 12 is a 45 degree angle and the steepest pitch available in our greenhouse. Glazing Bar - Here is a graphic of our glazing bar. The main frame is shown on the bottom of this picture, with the glazing bar at the top of the picture.
Door Drop - This is done to accommodate a kneewall provided by you. What we basically do is to drop the door frame in the greenhouse and adjust the material above the door to fill the empty spot. This is done at no charge if it is stated with the order. There is a $150.00 work change order if you change this once the order is placed. Foundations - Please note: if you use treated lumber you MUST USE a 10 mm polyethylene barrier between the wood and the aluminum. The chemical treatment being used is corrosive to the aluminum frame. Automatic Roof Vent Opener _ These work on the very simple principle of contraction and expansion. They basically have a wax cylinder. When the wax gets hot it expands and pushes the roof vent open. When the wax cools it contracts and pulls the roof vent closed.
