Cedar Lawn Patio and Garden Outdoor Furniture

There are many advantages to Western Red Cedar lawn furniture. One of the main advantages is its unique weather resistant property. The fibers contain oils which act as a natural preservative. It is also resistant to bacteria and fungi. Therefore no harsh chemicals are used to treat the wood. It will not bow, warp or sag because it is a dimensionally stable wood. This also makes it resistant to cracking and checking. Furniture left outside in harsh winter weather has been found to last from 8 to 10 years. Furniture that is covered or brought inside will last much longer. Cedar is 80% the strength of Oak. The characteristic fragrance of Western Red Cedar adds to the desirability of this wood. There are several ways to finish your wood. You can permit the wood to weather naturally if you choose. If you do this the wood will slowly weather to a silver gray and the grain of the wood will become slightly raised. If you leave your furniture to age naturally the silver gray will eventually be highlighted by darker streaks formed from the reaction between the wood and the zinc hardware. You can seal the wood with a sealer such as Thompson's Wood Sealer. You can use a good grade wood stain for exterior surfaces. The choice is up to you. All pieces have a finely sanded finish. They are hand fitted for snug fitting joinery. The edges are routed for a clean uniform appearance. Rust resistant zinc plated and/or brass hardware is used on all items. The dowels are hardwood and the holes are all pre drilled. Assembly is required on all items. Illustrated step by step instructions are included. There are two choices on many of the kits. They are described below.

Customers who choose to assemble our products on their own will realize a decent savings, and at the same time experience the satisfaction of having a key hand in completion of their own furniture. Our unassembled kits include all necessary hardware and the same high quality materials and craftsmanship as the pre-assembled (knock-down) version.
All components have been pre-cut, drilled and sanded. Easy to follow - fully illustrated instruction sheets are included, and in most cases customers will find average assembly time of 15 min. to 1 hour.

This option will satisfy customers who can't afford the time and need to have their new furniture ready for use ASAP. Most of our knock-down, depending on individual item, comes 70% - 90% completed, with remaining structures pre-drilled and pre-fitted to provide the customer with minimal set-up effort.
